After receiving his BA from USM, Tom established his career in energy reduction and facility improvement.
For nearly 18 years, Tom focused on developing and implementing more than $80 million in energy and operational solutions projects specific to the K-12, State, Healthcare, Higher Ed and Municipal markets.
These projects include but are not limited to HVAC/R improvements, biomass projects including woodchip and pellet, solar thermal, photovoltaics, innovative energy management system controls, roofing, windows, total lighting solutions, water conservation, central plant improvements, steam conversions and building envelope improvements.
For many years, Tom worked with EMC as trade allies and is now excited to join the team as President & Partner with Kayla Kunath bringing ample knowledge, experience, and expertise of energy efficiency.

Highly dedicated to her role as previous role as Vice President, Kayla is excited to begin a new chapter with EMC as President & Partner with Tom Seekins. She began her career with EMC in 2004 with vast responsibilities not limited to corporate operations, project management/development, human resources, project specification and purchasing, utility processes along with overall quality control. Kayla takes pride in her team at EMC and is devoted to energy efficiency. While her free time is limited, you will often find her with her two children, family and friends enjoying the lake or beach as much as possible.

Jeff Hanson, CEM, LC, established a career in lighting design and energy conservation more than 38 years ago. He studied business at St. Josephs College and co-founded EMC in 1993. While Jeff is relieved ownership responsibilities, Jeff’s passion remains in strategic lighting design, efficiency and effectiveness. His expertise is development accuracy and a focus on customer satisfaction stands true in future business development. Jeff obtained his LC and CEM which he maintains along with his role in IES and AEE. In his free time, you will find Jeff reading, playing hockey, boating or skiing.

Our newest member of the EMC Family, Erik Rodstrom. Erik grew up in Falmouth, ME and is currently residing in Gorham, ME with his wife and two children. Erik comes to EMC with an extremely diverse and unique background in Mechanical Engineering and Building Automation Control Systems. After earning his bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from Clarkson University, where he also played Lacrosse, Erik jumped right into the Building Automation world. In 2006 Erik held a position for 11 years as a Senior Design Engineer, designing complete building automation systems for small to large commercial and industrial buildings. Types of systems include HVAC, process, SCADA, lighting, and access control. Amongst many other acronyms you’ll find after his name, Erik holds certifications with Tridium Niagara AX and N4. As a licensed Professional Engineer (PE), having the background in controls is unique and very helpful to our customers! Additionally, Erik holds his Certification as a Certified Energy Manger (CEM) and Certified Measurement and Verification Professional (CMVP). Just before coming to EMC, Erik was the Mechanical Engineering Supervisor at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard where he worked for 5+ years. Outside of work Erik enjoys playing men’s league hockey, adventure dirt biking, and numerous outdoor sports. We are very happy to have Erik on our team!

Carl has worked in the lighting world for many years. He joined the EMC team in 2011 after exploring the energy efficiency world for a couple years previous. He covers the state of NH and both develops and manages his projects. While Carl will review any opportunity, he also manages the Small Business Programs for Eversource in NH. Carl plays an active role in his hometown of Nottingham, NH and is often coaching 1 or more teams during any season whether his children are playing or not. Carl also loves long distance biking.

Eric came to EMC in 2014 with a financial background and as a former Squad Leader in the United States Marine Corp. Eric is highly organized and team oriented. He recently accepted a new role at EMC as the Electric Vehicle Charging Station Specialist developing EV projects in ME, MA, NH, VT and other territories as needed. Eric will continue to audit and develop lighting projects as well with his acute eye for lighting efficiency improvements. He has also assisted the company with project management duties and proves to be an effective leader in any role. Eric enjoys playing golf and softball as well as spending time on the water.

Gabe joined EMC in 2008 to fulfill a project manager position. Gabe previously worked as an electrician in several different commercial/industrial settings and brought that experience in to his role at EMC. This competency enabled him to complete his projects on time, on budget and with satisfied customers. If Gabe is not managing his projects, you would likely find him outdoors perhaps fishing or kayaking or with his music.

James comes to EMC with a wealth of K-12 facilities management experience. Prior to joining EMC, James spent 12 years as the Director of Facilities for a school district in NH. During those 12 years, James implemented several large, energy efficiency projects. These projects included but not limited to, complete boiler room retrofits at all of his facilities, fuel conversions, LED conversions with advanced controls, HVAC replacements, security and life safety at all facilities, roofing projects, facility expansions and much more. In his free time, when he’s not spending time with his wife and two children, James is an avid golfer and loves the outdoors. It gives us great comfort, in knowing James will be at the helm of many K-12 energy efficiency projects for EMC and our valued customers.

Joining the EMC Family most recently is Matthew Hill. While Matthew has lived in Connecticut and New Hampshire, he is currently residing with his wife and three children in Vernon, VT. Matt comes to EMC with a strong background in Facilities Management. For the past several years, he served local school districts in both VT and in NH as Facilities Manager where he was able to exercise his strengths in building operations and planning, security, maintenance, grounds management and sustainability efforts. Matt brings an excellent work ethic, organizational skillset and planning ability to the team. In his spare time, you will find Matt enjoying the beautiful New England outdoors, most likely fishing and camping. He is also dedicated to supporting his children in hockey and horse shows.

One of our newest EMC team members, Danny Labrie! Danny comes to EMC with an exceptional background in Facilities Management and Engineering. After earning his Construction Management degree from Wentworth Institute of Technology, Danny jumped right into Project Management at a high level. After several years in the field, he then served as the Director of Facilities and Transportation for a local School Department. Danny has also held a position with Siemens as an Account Engineer, Managing over 30 accounts. And outside of being a devoted Husband and Father of two, Danny is also the Vice President of the Augusta Chapter of Maine Football officials and the Treasurer of Central Maine Umpires. We are very excited to have Danny Labrie on our team and can’t wait to see what the future holds for his next steps!

We are pleased to announce Jeff Yaeger joined EMC’s development team in January of 2024. He previously held the position of Sr Account Development Representative with Siemens Industries for 2 years. In this role he developed service plans for new customers throughout the state of Maine as well as develop HVAC projects for his customer base with a focus on the K-12 and healthcare markets. Before his work with Siemens, he spent 12 years in the payment processing industry with WEX Inc, holding a number of different roles from customer service to sales.
Jeff lives in Gorham and loves to spend time with his two teenage sons: Lucas and Caleb. He is an active coach of both baseball and soccer and enjoys movies, music, and stand-up comedy.

Joe has a tremendous history and experience in the HVAC trades. He currently holds his Masters license in Oil 1&2, his Gas license over and under 500btu, Mainstream Engineering Certification (EPA Clean Air) and much more. The majority of his HVAC tenure has been as an install/service technician for the mechanical and automation businesses which provides a unique ability to not only know what it takes to install almost any aspect of HVAC concepts, but also understand the requirements to maintain equipment and systems after installation. Joe has an immense knowledge base of Heat Pumps, VRF and systems alike; with full design capabilities of these systems. We are extremely proud to have Joe as part of the EMC team!

Eric established his career at EMC in 2008 primarily focusing on sales and development in Massachusetts. He continues to develop strong relationships with our utility partners and has designed many highly efficient lighting retrofits for very high-profile, large commercial customers. Eric studied at the University of Puget Sound where he obtained a BA in Communications with a concentration in Sales. Eric has a passion for skiing, biking, surfing and playing most sports. He also enjoys time with his family preferably on the lake or ski slope.

As one of our newest EMC team members, Adam joined the team in 2024 with extensive experience in the HVAC industry. Adam’s 20 years included work on both the installation and service side. Most recently he was the Viessmann Mfg Rep / Territory Sales Manager which included a multitude of responsibilities. Jon recently joined the EMC Team as a Project Manager. He comes to us with a background in facilities management and mechanical HVAC. Previously, Jon graduated from the University of Southern Maine with a bachelor’s degree in business. During his years in the field working, he acquired certifications in oil, propane, and natural gas, and managed a service department for an HVAC company. Jon then took on the Director of Operations position for a local school department. Jon also served the Maine Army National Guard for six years as a helicopter Crew Chief for a MEDEVAC unit. We are excited to have Jon on our team!!
